Monthly Roundup - 30th July 06
A very busy month starting with a brilliant dive off the North Cornwall coast near Trevose Head on The Runswick
A week later switching to the south coast and a lovely dive in the Falmouth estuary in the area called East Narrows and then a second dive here later in the month which produced scallops for a barbeque
A shore dive in the place that I have been sworn to keep secret was again well over an hour.
Intrepid explorers would describe the next adventure as we went out on the north coast again, working from charts and looking for a reef (that we never found) settling for a pleasant dive on Gulland. We then snorkelled with basking sharks on the way back to Rock and I caught my first fish!
Finally at the end of the month a dive on The Epsilon looking for the congers that lived there and a third dive on the Hera
Blowing the cobwebs off my bicycle, some time spent cycling the Camel Trail in my bid to tone up a bit!
Also completed another two articles for Travel-Dive, HMAS Swan and The Yongala I think these were the only wrecks I dived in Australia and quite a contrasting pair, being on opposite coasts one being a military ship and sunk as an artificial reef in SW Australia while the Yongala, a passenger steamer was lost in a storm and is now reputed to be one of the top ten wreck sites in the world.
People are often asking me about campsites, so I have added a new page to my blog listing campsites I have used when diving. These were selected for their close proximity to diving venues and not their facilities so some are very basic.
Next month should again be very busy and I am looking forward to going up to Scotland for two Yorkshire Diver Gigs with a week diving Scapa Flow from Stormdrift and then work my way down to Skye one of my favourite places, for another weeks diving off one of the Lochaline Boats.
